This Wiikend, thanks to Amazon, has been slightly more amusing than it would have been ordinarily, although they didn't bother dispatching any of the games I'd ordered to accompany it. That, however was remedied by a quick trip to Tesco's and good fun was had all round.
First impressions are that it seems an absolute blast for group play, but I'll wait for the novelty factor to wear off before I make any judgement as to its long term appeal.
10th December 2006
Last Saturday was Martin & Marion's wedding in Sunny Buxton, Derbyshire. A rather enjoyable day was had, even thought we missed the entire photo session bar the one with the whole congregation in it. After a week of apathy, I've finally got around to uploading the evidence that we in fact were actually there to witness it.
27th November 2006
Well, somehow I've managed another. After several attempts amounting to an average of about 10 catches, a 48 came out of nowhere, followed reasonably soon afterwards by 51. I've no idea where they came from and I can't see me managing it again anytime soon. 67% then. Onwards.
P.S. There' s only another 6 months left now 'till Bungay 2007.
5th November 2006
Yesterday was the Leeds Juggling Convention and the 1st opportunity for ages to take some more piccies. I've had to drop the idea of having all conventions on a single page as the photo gallery generation tool that I've been writing (since Bungay) doesn't really work properly in that respect and I can't really be bothered to invest the half an hour or so that would be required in order to make it do so.
We also discovered that Leeds has a particularly ace Thai restaurant, which topped the day off nicely, and can be heartily recommend for anyone feeling hungry at next year's convention. I've spotted that there's another one from the same group in Birmingham too, perhaps we should go there instead of bothering with Ballring after this year's debacle.
16th October 2006
Well, that's 100% for the unicycley related goals, and 0% for everything else. Woohoo !
15th October 2006
Hmm... I'm in two minds as to whether I should go out and pre-order a Wii before they all sell out. There's some interesting looking stuff coming out for it, but there's this little niggle in the back of my mind that the all singing, all dancing Wiimote could well end up being no more revolutionary than the Eye Toy. Whilst let's face it, it was fun for 5 minutes, but it didn't exactly change the world as we know it. I suppose if it turns out to be rubbish, I could always trade it in for a PS3 when Sony finally gets around to manufacturing one they're prepared to sell to me.
Also, given that I shall be celebrating another of life's little milestones in the next couple of weeks, I'm starting to think (as last year) that we should commiserate with the finest local cuisine that Leicester has to offer. Good idea?
25th September 2006
Although I've spent the last few days in Bristol (including a rather splendid day unicycling to Wales), I didn't actually take any photos. Most of the time was spent lounging around in the field next to the one with all the action. Oh well, serves me right for not getting there at the start.
Well, haven't added anything for a while, so to keep you entertained, I've started a JugglyLikeys section. If you know of (or have seen) a juggler that looks vaguely like someone else, then let me know and I'll add them in.
I've also updated the friends page, most notably to take into account recent additions to peoples' families.
11th September 2006
Well won't you look at that. Someone of some calibre joins the Ferrari F1 team and all of a sudden Schumacher Snr. decides it's time for retirement. What's up, scared that Raikkonen might not want to give you all of his points so that you can be gifted more championships rather than having to win then on your own merit ? Oh, obviously you are.
22nd August 2006
I arrived back from unicycle hockey this evening (slightly battered and bruised, but that's another story), only to stumble across this item as I kicked it into the door in the dark. I'm not quite sure who's been to visit and left it. It's not even mine. I presume that there's a story in it's travels somewhere though.
19th August 2006
I'm now 33% of the way towards this year's slice of life enhancement. Woohoo !
14th August 2006
I finally got my 24" unicycle in working order back at Crawley Convention over the weekend. Not really sure what to think about Crawley Convention though. It wasn't particularly bad, but on the other hand it didn't really have any redeeming features either. The woodland next to theatre, however is superb for off road unicycling though and will likely be the one thing that draws me back next year. The (over-hyped) show was okay, but had by far the worst compares I have ever seen. Roll on Bristol !
25th July 2006
I was happily playing hockey this evening when there was a sound not unlike a firework going off, followed shortly thereafter by an unplanned dismount on my part. A brief look down at what was left on the floor suggested that just perhaps, the 2 events may have been related.
17th July 2006
Back from EJC, and oh so nearly had another goal, but alas no cigar. I'm sure that a million and one people will write up lengthy reviews of it, so I'll try and do the reduced EJC write-up (in no more than 10 memories).
90 MPH Winds followed the next day by 30 degree sunshine
Watching broken marquees flapping gracefully in the wind
Having an icky tummy and feeling crap for the whole day
Finding a (German) Audrey Dantier Looky-Likey
Doing lots of late-night juggling (& Miark teaching me pass->pass->self with me realising it!)
Being kept awake until 2am most nights by Bongo Drums (and Bass Bins) =>:-(.
Queueing for ages to see the shortest show ever on the opening night (although both acts were rather good)
Unicycle pedal breaking during parade
Exploding dinner plates !
27th June 2006
GOAL !!!!!!!!!!
In two ways in fact. One down, five to go. Not doing too badly at another one either.
19th June 2006
I've just unicycled round 6 laps of the Mallory Park circuit, and done 36 catches of 4 clubs, immediately followed by 38 ! What an excellent day this has turned out to be.
14th June 2006
I've deleted the discussion forum as it's now being spammed every few hours and I can't be arsed to keep deleting it. You are the weakest link etc ......
12th June 2006
Hmm, more spam on the discussion forum. I tempted to follow Rodger's lead and delete them as they are rarely if ever used.
30th May 2006
Bungay Balls Up 2006 photos up using version 0 build 1 of Photo Jam. Comments Welcome.
29th May 2006 (II)
I've just had to delete some spam from the discussion forums. What do these people think that they are going to achieve ?
29th May 2006
After several soggy days in Bungay, I'm back (and I've got a new trick etc. etc....). There are a number of rather splendid photos to be uploaded and some updates for the goals section (not quite attained any more yet, but getting a smidge closer).
Will upload photos when I've got a working version of my new photo album creation tool working (working title PhotoJam), so there could well be something new on the download page before too long. Could be quite a long night ahead methinks.....
2nd May 2006
After unicycle hockey game no. 2, I have decided to accept Rodger's suggestion as a challenge, despite spending most of today's session riding in the direction that meant that I was least likely to fall off.
So there's now 6 ... and a hit rate so far of 0% =:-(.
1st May 2006
Have re-arranged the discussion forum to be a little better (looks a bit more like rec.juggling now, and Clare should be able to see some more of the things without having to scroll down the page =:-p.). Took over an hour, as FrontPage is one of (if not the) the most user unfriendly pile of pants I have ever used. Grr ! And as usually, it's bank holiday and it's currently throwing it down with rain.
Also, here's the interesting pics from the VW event.
29th April 2006
I've decided that I've got a ridiculous number of things that I need to do to the website, so I'd better stop playing video games and actually do it, so here goes ...
Lots of new pictures including Some of Chunky Monkey, Chris & Olly's Party & BJC 2006.
There's also a host of other changes elsewhere on the site, but I'll let you enjoy hunting for them. =;-).
9th April 2006
After being chased this weekend, I thought I'd better finish off the top 20 best games of all time. Unfortunately, one of the reasons for such tardiness is because I've been hooked on Banjo Kazooie (N64). Hmm, I may need to re-jig this list at some point but for now, here goes with 10 - 1 in the Top 20 best games in the universe ever.
24th March 2006
After a recent SOTUICBATCI, I got all nostalgic over the game Turrican II, so I thought I'd reflect on which other games have given me the most enjoyment over the years, so sit back, relax and enjoy numbers 20 -11 in the Top 20 best games in the universe ever.
4th March 2006
Nott Another Juggling Conventions photos now up
I've re-integrated Rod-ger back into the links page now that he has re-emerged.
28th February 2006
It's p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-pancake day, Hurrah !
27th February 2006 (take II)
Okay, so I made a small error in a fit of trying to stay awake in the early hours of a cold February morning. Anyone got any ideas for some life bettering goals ?
Speaking of mind blowing ideas, I've added a new feature entitled "Site of the until I can arsed to change it" or SOTUICBATCI for short. Catchy name huh!
On another note, just as I add Rod-ger to my list of links, he's gone and bloggered off ! That's gratitude for you.
27th February 2006
Yay, another suggestion. I really would quite like to do this one, but, alas, I fear that the phase "Trying to coast before you can idle" would be rather pertinent to this situation. I do feel that more unicycling is needed, especially if I'm going to get myself into any sort of shape for the (daily) ride to the brewery in Bungay, which incidentally, almost happened this weekend, in a fit of mindless spontaneity. I seem to be spending the majority of my time of late looking forward to juggling in fields.
I've also updated some stuff on the links page.
14th February 2006
It's valentines day once again, and what have I spent the evening doing I hear you ask. Well, I've added an option for you to break out of frames for those of you with low screen resolutions.
Oh, what an exciting life I lead !
12th February 2006
The 2006 juggling convention season is now officially upon us, and started with Chocfest XI.
9th February 2006
Clare Bear has just pointed out the alarming rate at which people we know are producing spogs of late, so to celebrate some information I received yesterday (no, not me !), along with a similar announcement from the Reader residence the previous week, I thought I'd start 2006 with some photos taken over the Christmas and New Year period of some of the ones that my family and friends have already managed to bear. Aaah.
Who's going to be next to declare ? Perhaps we should have a sweepstake =:-p.
Hmm, I think that this could well be the first passing of the bear for 2006 !
31st January 2006
A few minor mods to friends page.
25th January 2006
I've managed to dig out an old version of Swinemeeper written using VB6 & posted it up on the downloads page for those of you out there without .NET
24th January 2006
It would appear that our friends over in Redmond, in the good ol' U S of A have decided that in order to run anything written in the latest version of visual studio, then you have to have the .NET framework installed. Anyone wishing to download Swinemeeper or anything else that I may subsequently decide to stick on the downloads page will have to pay the website of Billy Boy's two bit corporation a visit first. Sorry, but he's got the whole world over a barrel ... and that includes you & I both. *Grrr*.
22nd January 2006.
Well, I've finally decided to ditch the old front page and move to the new one. It doesn't seem desperately dynamic or exciting (as was promised), but bear with me. It shall happen ...... at some point ..... err maybe???
I've included a section with some goals for the year, in which you too can partake by making a suggestion as to something I should add to the list. No rude suggestions (that means you Clare), or I shall edit them out ! It's also now possible to download swinemeeper for your entertainment in the downloads section. I'll upload the Minutes Left 'Till Christmas program at some point too. Now there's something for you to look forward to.
Only 3 weeks left to the first convention of the year, where hopefully we can get the first batch of photo's for 2006 !
